Caroline Co. home heavily damaged in weekend fire
MARYDEL, Md. – A fire heavily damaged a Caroline County home on Sunday.
The fire was reported just before noon at 17760 Henderson Road. Crews with the Marydel Volunteer Fire Company responded and were able to control the blaze in approximately 30 minutes.
Further investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office determined that the fire began on the rear deck of the home and extended into the attic space. The fire was reportedly caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials. The occupants were able to safely escape and are currently being assisted by family members.
Total damage has been estimated at $125,000.
