Car crash on Coastal Highway after police chase
MILTON, Del. – An 18-year-old is facing multiple charges after being involved in a police pursuit Sturday night.
According to Delaware State Police, at 11:16 p.m. a black 2007 Ford Ranger was observed speeding on Coastal Highway with no headlights on.
Troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but instead it lead police on a chase northbound. The pursuit ended near Coastal Highway’s intersection with Sylvan Acres Road, when the Ford went off the roadway and rolled multiple times, coming to rest in the southbound lanes of the highway.
During the accident, the driver was ejected from the window. He was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries, and later released.
The 18-year-old from Pasadena, Maryland has been charged with Disregarding a Police Officer (Felony), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Under 21, Aggressive Driving, Driving Vehicle at an Unreasonable Speed, 4 counts of Failing to use Turn Signal, and Possession of Personal use Quantity Marijuana Under 21 (Civil Violation).
