Berlin Police Department welcomes in new law enforcement officials

BERLIN, Md. – The Berlin Police Department is celebrating a win for the agency and the town.

The department has some new people coming out of the academy, who will be filling the positions of four law enforcement officials who have retired within the last year.

Chief of Police, Arnold Downing, said thanks to the efforts of town officials, the department was able to get back up to par.

“The town itself, and the mayor and the council, just made a commitment to say that retaining good law enforcement, and hiring good law enforcement officers, was a priority,” Chief Downing said.

Chief Downing added if you see one of the new officers on the street, a simple hello can help them become better acclimated in the community.
