Appeal denied in Mailloux case
WORCESTER CO., Md. – The man accused in the 2022 fatal hit and run of Gavin Knupp is headed back to court.
Tyler Mailloux was charged in connection to the incident last year, however, the charges were dismissed by a Worcester County court judge over lack of jurisdiction. The Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office filed an appeal, and the dismissal was reversed by the Appellate Court of Maryland in late March.
Mailloux then filed an appeal regarding that decision, which was denied by the court on Tuesday.
Worcester County State’s Attorney Kris Heiser tells WMDT this means the case will be tried in the Worcester County Circuit Court. She says the trial date has yet to be set, but may be scheduled for sometime in the fall.
