Wicomico County Public Library asks public for help
SALISBURY, Md – The Wicomico County Public Library is asking for the public’s help in supporting vulnerable people.
The downtown Salisbury branch of the library is home to a community pantry, where those experiencing homelessness–or anyone else in need–can get the supplies they need with no barriers.
Library officials are asking for donations, especially unused tents and camping equipment, in order to help those without a roof over their head stay out of the elements.
“The cold weather shelters that operate during the winter months have closed for the season. So a lot of the people that were staying in those are now street homeless again, because they cannot get into the shelters when they’re full,” said Cristi Richardon, Community Support Specialist for the Wicomico County Public Library.
Library officials also say that blankets, clothes, and shoes–and donating time as a volunteer–can go a long way.
All donations can be brought to the community support center located in the Sarbanes branch of the Wicomico County Public Library.
