Wicomico Co. man charged with murdering mother

SALISBURY, Md. – A Wicomico County man has been arrested and charged with murdering his mother.

Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, Fruitland Police and EMS crews were called to a residence on Sand Castle Boulevard for a report of an unconscious woman. The victim’s husband met with police on arrival, who then reportedly found an unresponsive woman in the bathtub. The woman, identified as 68-year-old Beatrice Gentry, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause and manner of death are pending autopsy results.

Further investigation by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit led to 48-year-old Jeremy Gentry, the victim’s son, being identified as the suspect. Gentry was charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held awaiting a bond hearing.
