LAUREL, Del. – Laurel Police arrested a wanted Wilmington man following a chase through the Laurel area over the weekend.

Wilmington Police alerted Laurel Police on May 1st that a warrant had been issued for 36-year-old Brian Bell, who was known to frequent the Hollybrook Apartment complex. At around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, an officer on patrol saw Bell in the Hollybrook Apartment complex getting into a vehicle and driving away. The officer requested an additional patrol unit to help conduct a traffic stop of Bell’s vehicle on Camp Road. Bell was reportedly uncooperative with lawful orders to get out of his vehicle and instead fled the stop in his vehicle. Officers engaged in a brief high-speed chase eastbound on Camp Road, and Bell eventually pulled over on Discount Land Road and was taken into custody.

It was determined via the officer’s in-car cameras that items may have been discarded from Bell’s vehicle during the chase, and a subsequent search of the area led police to find a plastic container containing what was later determined to be powder and crack cocaine.

Bell was charged with disregarding a police signal subsequent offense, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance crack cocaine, possession of a controlled substance powder cocaine, and multiple traffic offenses. He was released from Laurel PD on a $9,430 unsecured bail and was issued a $6,000 cash-only bail for his Wilmington Police felony warrant, which has since been posted.
