Salisbury PFLAG to celebrate annual rainbow flag raising ceremony

SALISBURY, Md. – Pride month starts in a little more than a week and Salisbury PFLAG is gearing up to help the city celebrate.

For the past 4 years, the group has been raising the rainbow flag in downtown Salisbury. On Saturday, June 1st, the organization and the City of Salisbury will gather for the ceremony, to kick off pride month.

Executive director of Salisbury PFLAG, Mark DeLancey, said the ceremony helps draw in allies and uplifts the LGBTQ community.

“This is actually a significant event, mainly for the reason [of] making sure we raise awareness, making sure we let people understand that there is a large community here of trans gender and LGBTQ on the Eastern Shore, and especially in Salisbury, and to make sure the allies understand that it’s OK to support LGBTQ,” DeLancey said.

Salisbury PFLAG will be hosting several events throughout the month. To find out more you can visit www.SalisburyPFLAG.com
