Queen Anne’s wins thriller over Decatur to capture Bayside girls championship

STEVENSVILLE, Md. – Queen Anne’s Lady Lions win a late-game thriller over the Decatur Seahawks 7-6. RJ Ensor lead the way for the Lions by assisting on Queen Annes’ last three goals to overcome a 6-4 deficit in the fourth quarter.

In the first half, the game was closely contested. Ensor and Seahawk Attack Sadie Kaufman each had two goals for their teams as the game was tied up at four heading into halftime.

In the second half, Kaufman scored another two goals to give Decatur a 6-4 lead that the Lions eventually overcame.

After the game, Ensor says the team is happy with the win especially because they had to come from behind to pull it off. “We came back for our revenge game as a team. We all came here today like ‘ Okay guys this is our time to play,’ we were so excited. We were struggling a little bit and we came together as a middie group and said ‘Okay guys we’re going to pull it together, we need this one.’ Came down the field, and everyone is spread out. We made the best play, kept it on the best side. Our girls moved around and put that goal in… We are so excited going straight into the playoffs with a big win. Let’s go!” Ensor says.
