Police searching for Seaford man wanted for hitting law enforcement vehicle, fleeing
SEAFORD, Del. – Seaford Police are searching for a man wanted for allegedly hitting a law enforcement vehicle and fleeing.
At around 1 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the area of Bridgeville Highway and Dutton Avenue to help Probation and Parole officers who had observed a suspect in a stopped vehicle in the area of Independence Drive and Nylon Avenue. Probation and Parole officers had reportedly tried to get out of their vehicle to make contact with the suspect regarding an active Breach of Release warrant when the suspect sped off, hitting the Probation and Parole vehicle. The suspect then reportedly continued to Bridgeville Highway, at which point he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. Police and a K-9 searched for the suspect, but were unsuccessful.
The suspect, identified as 51-year-old Gerald Watkins, is currently wanted for two counts of first degree reckless endangering, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and related traffic charges.
