Pocomoke man sentenced on firearm offenses
SNOW HILL, Md. – A Pocomoke man has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
The charges stem from an investigation that began in July of 2023, involving 22-year-old Jael Ghent. A search and seizure warrant was obtained for Ghent’s residence as a result of the investigation, leading investigators to find and seize a loaded semi-automatic Glock handgun, plastic baggies containing crack cocaine, digital scales, and prescription medications. Ghent was subsequently indicted on multiple felony charges, including possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
Ghent was sentenced to 14 years behind bars with all but the 5-year mandatory minimum suspended. He will be placed on three years of supervised probation on release.
