PFLAG finds alternative for Pride flag raising ceremony

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury chapter of PFLAG found a silver lining, ahead of its Pride flag raising ceremony.
The ceremony will now take place near the Downtown Salisbury roundabout, at 304 Carroll Street.
Executive director of Salisbury PFLAG, Mark DeLancey, said despite Mayor Randy Taylor’s decision to cancel the ceremony, the organization wanted to keep the annual tradition alive.
“We wanted to make sure that this is something that didn’t let bigotry or hatred take over, or fear,” DeLancey said. “I wanted this event to be inclusive; I wanted this event to be something that the community could celebrate together.”
The ceremony will kick off at 12PM on June 1st, with guest speakers.
