Pair arrested on charges stemming from theft, car crash
GRASONVILLE, Md. – Two people were arrested Wednesday evening on theft and other charges.
Deputies were called to Walgreens at around 5 p.m. for a reported theft. Arriving officers saw a vehicle returning to the location with two people inside matching the suspect descriptions. The vehicle then allegedly fled the area at a high rate of speed, leading the deputy on a chase. The vehicle drove through the Route 18 drawbridge traffic arm and over the partially open bridge. Deputies on the other side of the bridge found the vehicle after it crashed into the Waterman’s Monument at the corner of Main Street and Kent Narrows Way S. Witnesses told police that the suspects ran behind Fisherman’s Inn Restaurant.
The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Malik Lewis of Hagerstown and 24-year-old Donneisha Briscoe of Bowie. They were reportedly found in possession of over $5,000 worth of stolen merchandise.
Lewis was charged with conspiracy to commit theft $1500 to under $25,000, conspiracy to commit theft scheme $1500 to $25,000, fourth degree burglary, theft $100 to under $1500, and theft scheme $100 to under $1500.
Briscoe was charged with conspiracy to commit theft $1500 to under $25,000, conspiracy to commit theft scheme $1500 to $25,000, fourth degree burglary, theft $100 to under $1500, theft scheme $100 to under $1500, MDOP less than $1000, and 23 traffic related offenses.,
