One arrested, one sought in Laurel pursuit investigation
LAUREL, Del. – Police have arrested one suspect and are searching for a second following a vehicle chase Thursday afternoon.
At around 1:30 p.m., an officer on patrol reportedly tried to stop a white Kia Forte for speeding, however, the car fled in a reckless manner into the Lake Pines residential community. The car allegedly fled down several residential streets at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for multiple stop signs while also turning through the neighborhood in an attempt to evade the office. The vehicle eventually sped down a dead-end road and stopped on a home’s front lawn, at which point a male subject got out and fled on foot.
A female subject, identified as 20-year-old Sadie Henry, was detained at the scene. She allegedly told police that she had been alone in her vehicle, nobody fled the traffic stop, and she was visiting the residents of the home she was parked in front of. The residents confirmed that they did not know Henry and that she was not welcome at the scene.
During a search of the vehicle, police found marijuana and an open liquor bottle. The vehicle was subsequently impounded.
Henry was charged with disregarding a police officer signal, providing false statement to law enforcement – delay felony investigation, hindering prosecution – person sought for felony, resisting arrest, reckless driving, underage possession of alcohol, possession of personal use marijuana under 21, and multiple traffic violations. She was later released on a $5,100 unsecured bail.
Further investigation revealed that the male subject was picked up by family members shortly after fleeing. He has been identified as 20-year-old Brett Davis, and a warrant has been obtained for his arrest, charging him with resisting arrest, underage possession of alcohol, and possession of personal use marijuana under 21. Additionally, police say Davis has two active warrants issued by Delaware State Police, one warrant issued by the Dewey Beach Police Department, and one issued by the Laurel Alderman Court. He’s also wanted by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office for a felony probation violation.
Anyone with information on Davis’ whereabouts is asked to contact Laurel Police at 302-875-2244.
