New York man arrested for credit card fraud stemming
MILTON, Del. – A New York man is facing charges in connection to multiple reports of fraudulent credit card purchases last year.
The first incident was reported on May 13th, 2023, at Coastal Wine and Spirits in Milton. It was learned that two men had used a fake credit card to purchase over $3,800 worth of merchandise. A few days later, troopers were called to Hickman’s Discount Liquors in Ocean View, learning that a man used a fake credit card to buy more than $6,600 worth of merchandise.
Troopers were able to identify one of the suspects as 29-year-old Michael Lacey of Valley Stream, New York. Lacey was extradited to Delaware from New Jersey this week and charged with two counts of possession of instruments facilitating identity theft, two counts of theft – organized retail crime over $1500, unlawful use of a stolen payment card over $1500, four counts of unlawful use of a stolen payment card over to $1500 and victim is over 62, theft by false pretense over $1500, and second degree conspiracy.
