Local Shuttle company gives travel tips ahead of Memorial Day weekend

SALISBURY, Md. – It’s one of the busiest times of travel season, and BayRunner Shuttle has some tips to ensure your trip runs smoothly.
More than 300,000 people are expected to cross over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge this Memorial Day weekend.
Vice President of BayRunner Shuttle, Caroline Presburg, said if you have a flight to catch at BWI, using a shuttle service can help ease some of stresses of that long trek.
“We do keep an eye on our passengers’ flight times, and try to encourage them to go early, just to give themselves time,” Presburg said. “If there is a little bit of backup at the bridge, we know all the ways around, so we can try to avoid traffic at all costs.”
Since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge back in March, Gephyrophobia, or the fear of bridges and tunnels, has been on the rise.
And with very limited ways to get from the Eastern Shore to the West, BayRunner Shuttle driver, Charlie Linton, said having someone else drive you can help ease anxiety during your busy travel season.
“In my opinion, it’s very safe, as long as everybody stays in their lane and watches what they do,” Linton said.
“A lot of people are very skeptical and fearful of driving over it, that’s why a lot of times, they’ll say, ‘That’s why we take BayRunner, because we don’t want to drive over it ourselves,” Linton added.
And if you haven’t arranged for your ride, Linton said you should get on it, to make sure your weekend plans go off without a hitch.
“Particular, on the weekend, make sure you book your ride earlier than normal, in case there is a lot of traffic,” Linton said.
