Humane Society of Wicomico County pleas for deed to the property
Salisbury, MD.- The Humane Society of Wicomico County sent out a plea to the Wicomico County Council asking for the deed to a property.
The organization is asking for the deed to the property on Goldman Lane to use for a new shelter.
A new facility will give them space to take in more animals.
When the current shelter was built it was designed to be a kill facility, but shelter officials say that they do not, and will not operate that way.
WMDT spoke with Kim Nock executive director of the shelter who stressed the significance of getting the deed.
Kim said, “We have to move our shelter we have no choice we have run out of space and we don’t have the option to add on to our current facility so we knew the property over on Fooks road was available and we can’t think of an easier convenient better place that we could build a shelter.”
The shelter says that the cost of the new facility will be between 5 to 7 million dollars.
