SALISBURY, Md. – The first major phase of the project to replace the Route 13 bridge over the Wicomico River is slated to begin next week.

The first portion of the four-phased project is the demolition of one side of the existing bridge. Work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Monday, June 3rd, when crews will begin closing northbound lanes of Route 13 Business and shifting traffic over to two temporary lanes. Southbound traffic will be maintained. Once traffic has been shifted, crews will begin demolishing the east portion of the bridge.

Reflective barrels, temporary traffic signs, and variable message boards will be used to direct traffic through the work zone.

The entire project is expected to be completed in 2026.
