Dorchester Co. Public Library encourages literacy through annual party

DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md. – School is almost out and summer is about to be in session.

But for kids, that doesn’t mean they should put down those books for the next 3 months.

The Dorchester County public library is encouraging students to keep up with literacy this summer, through their annual summer reading kickoff party. The event will feature community vendors, face painting and other activities.

Hurlock branch manager, Sara Sears, said the library pulls the community together with this event, so parents know the value in literacy.

“We’re trying to encourage families, and really everyone of all ages, to come out and get to know the resources that are available at the library and elsewhere, and to encourage literacy for kids to read throughout the summer,” Sears said.

The party will take place on June 15th, from 12-2PM, in the Cambridge library parking lot.
