Delaware State Police arrest man for attempted murder

LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a shooting that took place on October 8th, 2023.

The suspect, identified as Lewis M. Cameron, on May 10th was extradited from Maryland to Delaware’s Troop 5. He was charged with attempted 1st degree murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

Cameron was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and sent to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1.2m cash bond.

At 6pm on October 8th, troopers responded to reports of a shooting near the 31000 block of Maple Court in Lewes. Upon arrival, they found a 29-year-old man from Millsboro suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Through investigation, detectives were able to identify Cameron as the suspect in the shooting.
