Del. Correctional Officer arrested on misconduct charges

SMYRNA, Del. – A joint investigation by Delaware State Police, the Delaware Department of Correction, Delaware Department of Justice, and the FBI led to the arrest of a Correctional Officer last week.

The investigation began in March following allegations that a Correctional Officer, identified as Jahee White, was using his position to engage in criminal conduct at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna. It was discovered through the investigation that White was using his position to further his drug distribution operations by smuggling illegal contraband into the prison and accepting bribes to do so.

White was taken into custody on April 23rd in the 500 block of Schooner Way in Dover. He was charged with three counts of official misconduct position used in engage in criminal conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possess with intent to deliver a counterfeit controlled substance, receiving a bribe, promoting prison contraband possess illegal narcotic or prescription medication with intent to deliver, and second degree conspiracy.

White was held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $95,000 cash bond.
