Community gears up for annual Haitian Flag Day Festival

SALISBURY, Md. – Saturday marked Haitian Flag Day and community members are celebrating their heritage, all weekend Long.

On Sunday, people will be coming together in Salisbury for the annual Haitian Flag Day festival. The event will feature fun games, traditional food and live music by YFC Band.

Lead singer, Djonuly Momplaisir, said he and his band mates plan to create a positive and upbeat atmosphere, where people can dance and indulge in the rich Haitian culture.

“We’re doing this for Haitian Flag Day; we’re going to be performing Yon Pase, mainly, because that’s what we listen to in the Haitian culture,” Momplaisir said.

The festival will take place from 3-8PM at 125th N Division St in Salisbury.
