Berlin ready to adopt FY 2025 budget

BERLIN, Md – The Town of Berlin will be adopting its new budget for the 2025 fiscal year tomorrow night.

The meeting of the council and mayor is taking place on a Tuesday instead of the regular Monday because of Memorial Day.

Officials say that they took a conservative approach to organizing the new budget, but it still includes funding for public works and capital improvement projects.
Projects such as repaving Flower Street, where the memorial day parade was held today–with no extra cost to taxpayers.

“We thought that we were going to need a tax increase, but we really sharpened our pencils, worked with staff, worked together with the council, and we were able to make everything we needed this fiscal year fit within the existing tax rate. So we will not be raising taxes this year,” said Berlin Mayor Zack Tyndall.

Tyndall added that lead line replacement has also been a focus for the town, and that they have been able to secure grant funding to help ensure that all residents have clean and safe drinking water.
