UPDATE: 17-year-old charged with murder in Dover shooting, victim identified

DOVER, Del. – A 17-year-old is facing murder charges following a shooting Wednesday morning in Dover.
Police were called to a report of shots fired inside a residence in the 400 block of River Road just before 10:30 a.m. The victim, a 54-year-old Seaford man, was found inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It was determined through the investigation that the victim and suspect, a 17-year-old male, had gotten into a verbal and physical altercation. The teen then allegedly grabbed a firearm and shot the victim before fleeing the scene.
At around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the teen reportedly turned himself in to the Dover Police Department, where he was charged with first degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, He was subsequently held at the Stevenson House Detention Center on a $535,000 cash bail.
