Worcester Co. Sheriff’s Office recognizes hard work of dispatchers

DELMARVA. – Sunday marked the first day of national telecommunications week, and local law enforcement agencies are recognizing all of the hard work that their dispatchers put in.

When a call for help takes place, you often don’t think of the person behind the phone as being a lifesaver.

However, this week is meant to shed a light on all of those individuals who are taking those community calls and sending help to the scene.

Worcester County Sheriff, Matthew Crisafulli said those men and women play crucial roles in the everyday responses of law enforcement.

“In most occasions, our dispatchers are the very first line of defense. They are the ones that have to hear the call, they have to hear the trauma, so they have a very difficult role– they have an extremely stressful role in what goes on in the world of public safety,” Sheriff Crisafulli said.
