Wicomico Co. Sheriff’s Office warning of scam

WICOMICO CO. Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens of recent phone and email scams.

We’re told the subject poses as a Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy and tells the person they owe money and if they don’t pay, legal action will be taken against them and they may end up in jail.

Officials are reminding citizens that this is not a standard business practice, and the sheriff’s office will never contact citizens and request money over the phone or via email. If you receive one of these calls, you should not give any pertinent information and contact law enforcement immediately.
