WICOMICO CO., Md. – A Wicomico County man has been indicted on more than 200 charges stemming from an investigation that began earlier this year.

Detectives launched the investigation in February 2024 following allegations of sex abuse of a minor by 64-year-old James Thompson. Police say the investigation uncovered “deeply concerning evidence of prolonged abuse” against the minor over the span of several years.

Thompson was indicted by a Wicomico County Grand Jury this week of a total of 228 charges, including sex abuse of a minor, rape, sex trafficking, stalking, filming of child pornography, and sexual solicitation of a minor.

Thompson is currently a registered sex offender and is being held without bond. He is scheduled for an initial appearance on May 10th.
