Vacant Delmar home destroyed in early morning fire
DELMAR, Md. – An investigation is underway following an early morning fire at a vacant Delmar home.
Just before 2 a.m., firefighters responded to 904 East State Street for a reported house fire. Crews battled the two-alarm blaze for roughly 2.5 hours before bringing it under control.
Fire marshals say the home was vacant at the time of the fire, and according to neighbors, had not been inhabited in nearly 20 years. Delmarva Power had disconnected electricity to the home before the fire.
The cause remains under investigation. Total damage has been estimated at $100,000.
