Traffic stop leads to felony gun arrest in Dover
DOVER, Del. – A Dover man is behind bars on felony gun charges stemming from a traffic stop Saturday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., troopers saw a Volkswagen Jetta traveling at a high rate of speed on West Lebanon Road in the area of South State Street with an expired registration. The trooper subsequently stopped the vehicle, and observed two black handgun magazines in plain view inside the vehicle. A search then led to the discovery of a green Polymer 80 ghost gun concealed under the driver’s seat, 102 rounds of ammunition, and three handgun magazines. It was also determined that the driver, 22-year-old Robert Coombes, does not have a concealed carry permit.
Coombes was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of an untraceable firearm, and multiple traffic violations, and was held at SCI on a $10,200 secured bond.
