SU holds 23rd annual ‘Relay for Life’
MARYLAND – Friday evening Salisbury University held its 23rd annual ‘Relay For Life’. The student-run event raises money for the American Cancer Society.
Activities on campus began at 6pm and continued well after dark, wrapping up at midnight. There were upwards of 45 student organizations present, along with all kinds of games, activities, and live performances. This year’s Relay for Life had a country/western theme, with the tagline “Giver Cancer the Boot!” In line with the theme, there was even a mechanical bull that students could take a spin on.
But all the fun aside, organizers didn’t want people to forget why they’re were out there raising money in the first place. “We’ll have some speakers, and we’ll definitely remember and celebrate those who have fought cancer and who have lost their battles to cancer,” said SU student and event organizer Logan Krebs.
As the largest student-run event on campus, it takes a whole year to plan. Krebs said they started planning 2024’s Relay for Life the weekend immediately following last year’s event. Last year, students raised over $50,000 in the 6-hour span of the event.
