Raccoon in Crisfield tests positive for rabies
CRISFIELD, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department says a rabid raccoon was located in Crisfield on Friday.
We’re told the raccoon was located in the 26000 block of Asbury Road, near the intersection of Asbury and Lawsonia. The raccoon was collected that day following a fight with a dog, and the test came back positive for rabies on Monday.
Health department officials are reminding everyone to take precautions, including vaccinating your pets and livestock, avoid approaching an unknown animal, and report any sick or strange acting wildlife.
