Man arrested for robbery, assault with a machete in Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A man has been arrested for robbery and assault with a machete in Cambridge.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on March 25th, officers were called to a parking lot near the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for a reported assault. Officers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle with damaged windows and met with a man who had blood on his shirt, as well as a female victim. The victims reported that they had met up in the parking lot when a man, identified as 44-year-old Eddy Garcia Juarez, approached the vehicle carrying a machete. Garcia Juarez then allegedly damaged the vehicle and assaulted the man by hitting him with the machete. The man reported that he took off running toward the police department when other men started following him.
Camera footage from the hospital showed Garcia Juarez approaching the vehicle with the machete, damaging the vehicle and assaulting the man. Footage also showed Garcia Juarez trying to assault the female victim, forcefully taking car keys from her while holding the machete.
Police located Garcia Juarez in the 600 block of High Street and took him into custody. He was held without bond on two counts each of first and second degree assault, armed robbery, two counts of reckless endangerment, theft, and malicious destruction of property.
