Man arrested following Smyrna parking lot incident
SMYRNA, Del. – A Townsend man was arrested Thursday night following a parking lot dispute in the Smyrna area.
Police were called to investigate the incident at around 8:30 p.m. Investigation revealed that Shawn Evans had pulled behind a man’s vehicle in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot and began taking photos of his license plate. The victim got out of his vehicle to confront Evans, at which time Evans allegedly pulled out a can of pepper spray and threatened to shoot the victim.
Police say Evans was found in possession of pepper spray and a CO2 rubber ball gun. During the incident, the victim’s wife and three minor children were in the car.
Evans was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, second degree reckless endangering, terroristic threatening, and menacing. He was later released on his own recognizance pending a future court hearing.
