UPDATE: Magnolia woman killed in late night crash, police searching for witnesses

4/9 UPDATE: Police have identified the victim in this crash as 46-year-old Dianell Gordy-Thomas of Magnolia.

MAGNOLIA, Del. – Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s help in a fatal crash investigation.

Just before midnight Saturday, police say a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV was traveling southbound on Clapham Road, approaching Jury Drive, in the Magnolia area. The driver reportedly lost control of the SUV, veering off the road and driving into a retention pond, becoming submerged with the driver still inside. Rescue crews were able to get the driver out of the vehicle and take her to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 46-year-old Magnolia woman died as a result of her injuries the following day.
