Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals to close Salisbury manufacturing plant
SALISBURY, Md. – Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals has announced it will be closing its manufacturing plant in Salisbury.
The facility will cease operations on June 17th, however, the company plans to continue its sales and marketing operations in the U.S. market.
The facility makes tablets and capsules with up to five billion doses at a time. The company says over the last few years, the U.S. generic drug market has been seeing increasing pricing pressure.
The company stated that in order to get back to profitability in the U.S. market, they need to outsource manufacturing to other companies.
Following the closure in Salisbury, the company plans to export its products from the international market into the U.S.
