Man arrested for home burglary in Georgetown

Georgetown, DEl,.- A Laurel Man is behind bars following a burglary at a home in Georgetown earlier this month.

On April 13th around 7:40 PM Delaware State Police responded to a residence on the 24000 block of Lewes Georgetown Highway for a burglary report.

When troopers arrived they learned that a neighbor saw and notified the homeowner that an unknown male was on the property.

The unknown suspect stole items inside the home and fled in a white Ford pickup truck with the words and decal “Truck Company” on the passenger side.

Police later identified the suspect as 64-year-old David Arvey Sr.

On Friday afternoon just before 4 pm.  Millsboro Police Department apprehended Avery Sr. after a brief foot chase.

Arvey Sr. was charged with Burglary Third Degree (Felony) and Theft Under $1500 where the victim is 65 Years of Age or Older (Felony).

Arvey Sr. was taken to Millsboro police Department, charged, and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Avery Sr. was ultimately committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,000 secured bond for two outstanding capiases issued by the Sussex County Superior Court.
