Fatal crash near Bethany Beach

Bethany Beach, DEL. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred near Bethany Beach on Friday night.

On April 19, 2024, at around 6:58 p.m., a Ford F-350 truck, pulling a trailer, was driving southbound in the right lane on Costal Highway. At this same time a Jaguar was driving southbound on the same highway. The Jaguar lost sudden control of causing him to the hit the trailer of the truck. Resulting in, the trailer disconnecting from the truck and overturning.

The driver of the truck, a 61-year-old man, and passenger, a 59-year old women, from Pennsylvania were not hurt. Unfortunately the driver of the Jaguar, an 87-year-old man from Rehoboth Beach  was taken to a nearby hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

On April 21, 2024 the driver of the Jaguar died from injuries sustained in the crash. At this time the driver name has not been released.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident.
