Emerging Leaders: Gabrielle Remington & Paul Hocheder
47ABC – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to a new emerging leader!
Gabrielle Remington is this year’s Worcester County Teacher of the Year, and her grandfather Paul Hocheder has enrolled in college at 90 years old!
His remarkable choice has inspired many on social media and they stopped by Good Morning Delmarva to talk more about this viral moment.
Remington says it’s an honor to be named Teacher of the Year and she feels lucky to represent the county.
She says she is so grateful for all the support she’s gotten from staff and family especially her grandfather who inspires her to continue pursing more education.
Her 90-year-old grandfather, Paul, recently has gone back to school. He says it’s because he wants to keep his mind sharp and stay learning!
She posted a video of his first day at school on social media and it went viral with over 5 million views.
They were even recently featured on Good Morning America and Paul has become a bit of a TikTok star!
He says that he really enjoys community college and is learning a lot from his peers who vary in age.
He also tells us that he would recommend community college to anyone coming out of high school as it’s a great alternative and transition.
