Deactur blasts Parkside 11-6

SALSIBURY, Md. – Deactur takes down Parkside 11-6 to move to 10-2 on the season

This game was filled with runs at the beginning of the game, 13 runs were scored between the two squads in the first two innings. But things would slow down starting in the 3rd inning. Decatur gave up only one run for the rest of the game while Parkside gave up two runs.

Decatur’s defense over the final 5 frames sealed the deal, and Decatur Head Baseball Coach Rich Ferro agreed.

“They’re the defending state champions in the 2a, they can play baseball so they’re going to put balls in play. That was the biggest thing, we expect they’re going to put balls in play so we’re going to have to play defense. Fortunately, we were able to play that defense that we needed in those tough times. Lucas made a great play at second base in the 7th, we executed on some cut plays so overall we pitched but we played defense behind our pitchers and that is the key. we don’t need them to be too fine because we’re happy with our defense so let our defense work and limit pitches and all of that good stuff,” Ferro said.
