Assault with a machete leads to arrest in Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A Cambridge man is behind bars following a reported assault with a machete Wednesday morning.
Shortly after 8 a.m., officers were called to the 200 block of Byrn Street for a reported physical disturbance with a subject chasing another person with a machete. Officers arrived at the scene and met with the victim, who told police that 42-year-old Hobart Tyler had chased them with a machete and punched them.
At the time, Tyler was in the residence with a small child, and officers could hear the child crying and Tyler screaming. Police forced entry into the residence and took Tyler into custody. The child was found unharmed, and witnesses reported the same information as the victim. Police also found a machete at the scene.
Tyler was charged with first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, theft, and dangerous weapon with intent to injure. He was held without bond.
