Appo miscue hands Central walk-off victory
GEORGETOWN, Del. – Central won a match-up of top baseball programs defeating Appoquinimink, 4-3, on a cold, windy Monday afternoon.
Central trailed most of the afternoon, but mounted rallies in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. The Jaguars turned the Knights away on every occasion, that is except for the final frame.
With bases loaded and two out, Peter Onuschak hit a bouncer back to the mound. A feeling of doom turned to pandemonium when the pitcher’s throw went over the first baseman’s head, allowing the tying and game-winning runs to score.
Sussex Central advances to 4-0 on the season.
