WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – The controversy continues over school safety in Worcester County following a public address held by local law enforcement.

Worcester County officials have been going through an uphill battle over school safety. Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) and Board of Education (WCBOE) pushed back hard earlier this month against claims made by law enforcement about school safety.

Worcester County Sheriff Matt Crisafulli and State’s Attorney Kris Heiser came together Thursday night to address the public, posting a video on the Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page responding to school officials push back.

“We want them to know that we won’t stop fighting to get them the support that they need and deserve,” State’s Attorney Kris Heiser said. “We won’t stop fighting to stop the violent incidents in our schools. Everyone in our schools deserves to be safe.”

Sheriff Matt Crisafulli also spoke at the public address, following up on her remarks saying in part quote: “we need our Worcester County Public School’s leadership to stop trying to minimize these serious incidents and stop trying to hide the crime occurring in our schools from parents and law enforcement.”

Along with their remarks, they released the following sheet, titled “School Safety Alert”, that highlighted several recent incidents of violence within Worcester County Public Schools.

In the school safety alert sheet the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office specified that the latest assault, which occurred on Wednesday, March 6th, was never reported to law enforcement as required by law.

47 ABC News continues to follow this controversy very closely and will be reaching out to the Worcester County Board of Education and school system for a response.
