Traffic stop leads to arrest of wanted brothers

1280 Laurel Wanted Arrest

Kevin Fields (left) and Keith Fields

LAUREL, Del. – Two wanted brothers were taken into custody following an early morning traffic stop in Laurel.

At around 4:15 a.m., an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in the area of Sussex Highway and Waller Road after noticing that the vehicle’s registration had a warrant flag. The officer made contact with the driver, 52-year-old Kevin Fields, learning that he had an outstanding felony warrant issued by a neighboring agency. He was subsequently taken into custody.

To avoid towing the vehicle, the officer allowed Kevin to contact someone to pick up his vehicle. A short time later, his brother, identified as 65-year-old Keith Fields, arrived at the scene. The officer checked Keith’s license to ensure he was allowed to legally operate the vehicle, at which time it was determined that Keith had an outstanding felony warrant out of the same agency for the same incident.

Police say the vehicle was towed before a third wanted subject could possibly be called to the scene.

The pair were taken to the agency that issued the warrants, where they were processed and released on their own recognizance.
