Six construction workers still missing following early morning Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Rescuers are still searching for six construction workers following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge early Tuesday morning.
We’re told the construction workers, who were working on the bridge at the time of the collapse, are presumed dead.
As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, one person had been released from the hospital, with a second still hospitalized.
A cargo ship crashed into the bridge at around 1:30 a.m. after reportedly losing power. Emergency crews were able to block traffic to the bridge after receiving a warning from the ship just moments before the crash.
Officials say this was not intentional, and there is no evidence of a terrorist attack.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore declared a State of Emergency in response to the crash, promising unity and support statewide as we move forward.
