Serious crash investigation underway in Dover

DOVER, Del. – An investigation is underway following a serious crash that injured two Thursday evening.

At around 6:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of Saulsbury Road and Whatcoat Drive for a reported crash, finding two vehicles with heavy front end damage as a result of the crash. The investigation revealed that a 2012 Jeep Wrangler was being driven by a 69-year-old Dover man southbound on Saulsbury Road. At the same time, a 2016 Mazda CX-5, driven by a 27-year-old Dover woman, was traveling northbound in the same area. The Jeep reportedly swerved to avoid hitting a deer, subsequently hitting the Mazda head-on.

The 69-year-old man was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he remains in serious condition.

The 27-year-old Dover woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
