Search for vehicle underway following armed carjacking in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Police are searching for a vehicle following an armed carjacking Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Willis Street for a reported armed carjacking that had just occurred. The victim met with police and reported that their vehicle had just been stolen at gunpoint.

Further investigation revealed that the incident took place in the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue. The victim reported that a friend had asked them to pick up someone and give them a ride to a residence. The victim subsequently picked up one person on Teal Lane and another on Foxtail Drive and was told to give the male subjects a ride to the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue. When they arrived in the parking lot of the apartment complex, the victim said both men threatened him, at which point one of the suspects pulled out a gun and handed to the other suspect, who pointed the gun at the victim while threatening to shoot them. The other suspect reportedly got out of the vehicle and went to the driver’s side of the vehicle and punched the victim. After a struggle, the victim fled from the vehicle on foot and flagged down a FedEx driver on Willis Street to ask for help.

The suspect picked up on Teal Lane was described as being roughly 6 feet tall with short dreadlocks, skinny build, chin hair, and appeared to be approximately 18 years old. He was wearing a red sweatshirt with black pants.

The suspect picked up on Foxtail Drive was described as approximately 5’9″ to 5’10”, with buzzcut style hair, a beard, and wearing yellow sweatpants with a black puffy jacket and a yellow t-shirt.

Police have provided images of the vehicle, which has not been located at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambridge PD at 410-228-3333. If you see the vehicle, do not approach it.
