Seaford traffic stop leads to drug arrest
SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man was arrested following a traffic stop for speeding Friday afternoon.
The investigation began just after 4 p.m., when a Seaford Police officer stopped a vehicle on W. Stein Highway for speeding. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, and made contact with the driver and sole occupant, 20-year-old Andre West. After determining that West was under the age of 21, a search of the vehicle was conducted, leading to the discovery of approximately 549.9 grams (over one pound) of marijuana, a digital scale, and around $300 in suspected drug dealing money.
West was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, and operating a motor vehicle with expired registration. He was later released on a $6,202 unsecured bond.
