Seaford man charged in Slinger’s Pizza crash

SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man was arrested on a slew of felony charges after police say he drove intoxicated through a local shopping center and then crashed into a pizzeria.
33-year-old Dustin Crockett was arrested Monday afternoon after police say they were called to Roses in the Seaford Village Shopping Center around 11 a.m. for reports of a welfare check after people noticed a man slumped over behind the wheel.
By the time officers arrived, police say the man had slammed into the front of Slinger’s Pizza and Grill on the other end of the shopping center.
The vehicle was found deep inside the restaurant leaving a huge hole in the front of the building, according to police. Witnesses found a small child inside the car following the crash. The child was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
At least one employee of the restaurant received minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Following the crash, Crockett was detained and requested medical treatment at which time he was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Crockett was charged with Reckless Endangering 2nd (2 counts), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Vehicular Assault 3rd, Malicious Mischief by a Motor Vehicle (2 counts), Reckless Driving and Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence. He was committed to the Department of Corrections on $4000 secured bond.
