Queen Anne Co. Sheriff’s office seeking help from community to crack 11-year-old case
QUEEN ANNE’S COUNTY, Md.- The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s office sending a plea out to the community to solve an 11-year-old case.
March 1st, 2024 marked 11 years since the Queen Anne County’s sheriff office answered a call for a missing person’s report in the Beach Road area of Stevensville. Upon arrival, officers discovered Robin Pope was missing as well as her dog Bella. 22 days later, both were discovered to have drowned in the Chesapeake Bay.
Queen Anne’s County Sheriff Gary Hofmann said now more than a decade later, many questions are still left unanswered. Sheriff Hofmann believes that there is a suspect out there who committed this crime. He said that any information the public may have can bring peace and closure to a family and community still in mourning. “We want to make sure that we keep this case alive. It’s not a cold case. It’s a case we take seriously every day. We’re continuously asking, 11 years later, for public’s help and support,” Sheriff Hofmann said.
“It could just be that one little thing that they thought they should’ve passed off to us 11 years ago but didn’t. Or maybe they’ve learned of new information in the past 11 years that just might be that one thing we’re looking for to pass on. ”
Sheriff Hofmann tells us that Maryland State Police are currently handling the investigation and you’re urged to contact them if you have any information.
