Local youth gather in Wicomico Co. Library to hear classic stories

SALISBURY, Md. – Local kids gathered at the Wicomico County Library Saturday afternoon, to hear Dr. Seuss stories read by local law enforcement.

On the famous author’s birthday, the library honored his legacy by reading some of his best books to locals.

Chief of the Salisbury Police Department, David Meienschein, said the event gave them the perfect opportunity to bond with the community, so they can see police officers from a more personal side.

“A lot of times when someone calls the police, its usually for something that they need, and it’s not something that they’re calling us, just to see how our day is going,” Chief Meienschein said. “This is a great opportunity to do a little something that’s out of our norm, to try to do some positive interactions with some of our young folks.”
